Back in June, the Just a Card campaign ran a week of prompts on social media, to encourage designers, makers, artists and independent retailers to shout about their businesses, and Happy & Glorious was delighted to take part. Just a Card is a brilliant campaign run by creative volunteers that want to support small businesses, highlighting that, although compliments are wonderful, sales are what keeps small shops alive!
Throughout the week, small businesses across the country told their stories, spoke of their communities and explained what the #justacard campaign meant to them. Friday's prompt was 'Happy Dance', to show how every sale makes an independent business owner feel. Here was my offering...
This silly dance was the most successful social media post I had ever created with over 3500 views across Facebook, twitter and Instagram, so I proposed to do it again, at the end of July, provided that I hit my target for the shop and website's takings. This is not so that I could retire to a tropical island, but merely keeps my shop door open and pays everyone that needs to be paid. Every sale, even just a card, makes a big difference!
I was very close to hitting my target, and in celebration of this, and the fact that it is nearly six years to the day since I launched my business online, did a new happy dance, with a song picked at random from suggestions from my lovely customers.
